Parish Room Open! (7-6-08)

Invasion by plants The old stove The entrance The old notice board

The doors of the old Parish Room where opened for three hours this afternoon. The Heritage Group is working towards having the Room restored to enable it to be used as the Cropwell Bishop Heritage Centre. The project could well be completed within two years but for now you have to refer to the plans and use your imagination.

Some of you will remember using the Building as a Youth Club or as a place for a Village event. The last time I was in there was at a Christmas fund raising event for the Brownies - and I was dressed as Father Christmas: it was a long, long time ago!

In the 1850s it was the Village School and one of the windows was found to have the names of some children scratched on it. As you can see from the photographs, a great deal of work will have to be done to renovate the building. Even so, I have seen far worse on the property renovation programmes on the TV.

Lesley's back garden Two cream teas please

To complete the afternoon, Lesley Barlow had cream teas available in her back garden. It even stopped raining and the sun shone so that views across the fields could be enjoyed as you nibbled scones and sipped tea. All very pleasant. Thanks go to those in the Heritage Group who organised the event.
