Not the First Day of Spring—or is it? (2-3-13)
Whilst the first day of spring is officially the 20th of March, today must go down as the unofficial first day of Spring in Cropwell Bishop.
That seemed to be the view of many people today as they made a start on those jobs that could not be done in the cold and wet, or went outside to feel the warmth of the sunshine, or simply got on with their everyday job with a spring in their feet.
These pictures, taken by Mel Stanley this morning, capture the spirit.

"All tickets for my upcoming Movie, "Skyfall", have been sold.
Don't come to the showing on the 15th March if you haven't got a ticket: there will be none on sale at the door and you will not be let in."

Dancing in the streets of Cropwell Bishop? (29-1-13)
Everyone is welcome to attend this event in aid of school funds.
The band is very popular and has appeared at several local events recently, including the Olympic Torch bearing event at Radcliffe on Trent: it had the audience dancing in the street!
It promises to be a very good evening.

Cropwell United face the Champions (13-1-13)
Today it was cold and foggy on Sheldon Field at Cropwell Butler, and our football team, Cropwell United, were playing against the current champions of their league.
On the pitch the 22 players were oblivious to the harsh conditions as they fought each other from start to finish, both out to prove they were the best in the league.
So far, Cropwell United have had a great season and started the day as league leaders: would they still be there by the end of the day?
Go to the Sports Page and find out.
Gone missing: can you help? (11-1-13)
Have you seen our cat? Her name is Merlot.
She was last seen on Cooper Close on Monday morning.
She is 2 years old, very friendly and inquisitive.
She was wearing a reflective collar when last seen.
She has been known to go into people's houses.
Would you please take a few minutes to look in your house, garage, outbuildings (and, unbelievably, your car) to see if she has snuck in to keep warm.
If anyone has seen her—or finds her, please contact us on: 07500-003149.
Thank you
Jane

Christmas Party (11-12-12)
If you are a 'senior citizen' then you are invited to the Old School on Friday 21st December to enjoy a film (The Best Exotic Marigod Hotel) followed by a Christmas Buffet— all for free!
This is being provided by a trio of organisations; The Old School Entertainments Group, Cropwell Care and The Parish Council. The event takes place between 11.30am and 2pm.
All you need to do is collect your free ticket from The Cabin on Church Street. There is just one problem: there are only a few tickets left!
But, if you qualify, make the most of what your Village has to offer and dash down to the Cabin for your free ticket—before it's too late.
More 'Tree-mendous' photos! (7-12-12)
A couple of weeks ago Mel Stanley photographed the removal of an old tree trunk on Church Street—the post that had supported the defunct electricity cables.
This week her sister matched her efforts by photographing the felling of a living tree on Fern Road. Workmen removed the tree as part of the improvement plan to wasteland between the Church and Old School.
Whatever next? Let's wait and see.
