Dog Poo will be targeted (7-11-13)

The action of dog owners who do not clear up their dog's poo has, I understand, spurred a forthcoming campaign by the 'Canal and River Trust'.

Members of the Trust are to spray offending piles with paint wherever they appear on the towpath of the Grantham Canal. Whether they want to spray offending owners, once identitified, has not been revealed. A villager did suggest a suitable substance they could use but it is too revolting to state here.

More news when available.

Report to the Parish Council anyone you see not clearing up their dog's poo.

Fireworks Night—and more (1-11-13)

A little bit of rain was not going to put off around a hundred people from going up to the Memorial Hall this evening.

They were there to witness the official opening of the new play equipment on the Play Park. Rushcliffe Borough Councillor, Gordon Moore, presented leader of our Parish Council, Alan Wilson, with the official plaque for the park extension.

Notts County Councillor, Richard Butler, and several Cropwell Bishop councillors were also there in support, as were lots of children, who no doubt will make the most of the new Zip Wire, Climbing Net and a big Blue Sprung Bowl (which must have a proper name but I don't know it!).

The children were also at the event for other reasons: free mushy peas to warm them up before going outside to see the lighting of the Beacon and then enjoy the annual 'Bonfire Night' Fireworks Display—all for free, thanks to our Parish Council.

Message to Cropwell Bishop residents:

Registrations are going very well but we do need help on the day with marshalling, refreshments, car parking etc.

Are you willing to help?

All money raised will be split equally between the school and scouts. Many people will have connections with one or both through family or friends.

We hope this will become an annual event which will involve the whole community.

We would be grateful for all offers of help and there may be some cheese in it for volunteers!

Volunteers can contact us via the website www.stiltonstumble.com or you can email Susanna at:
susannastephenson@uwclub.net

Thank you
