Rushcliffe Awards

Parish Councillor, John Greenwood, was at the Rushcliffe Awards ceremony at County Hall last week. He reported:
"County Councillor Richard Butler and Rushcliffe Borough Councillor Gordon Moore were very impressed with the community activities generated in Cropwell Bishop as a result of the Village Plan. They were both present at the Rushcliffe awards ceremony on November 13th to see Tony Jarrow receive a certificate and high acclaim for his work in leading the development of the Parish Plan and his tremendous efforts in establishing community groups and an informative village web site.
Visitors to the awards ceremony commented on the excellent display showing the Cropwell Village Plan activities which had been prepared by Tony and his wife Hilary.
Mel Stanley was also nominated for her good work in the village community".
Carol Halpin was presented with the Rushcliffe Sports Volunteer of the Year Award. Carol has now become the British Swimming World Class Development and National Talent Team Manager and was presented with the special Community Award in recognition for all she has done over the years for disabled swimmers. Carol will be working with the swimmers that will hopefully compete at the London 2012 paralympics.
She has been involved with Bingham Penguins Swimming Club for 10 years serving a number of roles. This last year has seen Carol manage the GB squad for swimmers with learning disabilities at the World Championships and other international events. She leads on the county elite swimming squad for people with a learning disability, operating 20 sessions during the year and also operated England squad sessions for Mencap Sport. She supports other clubs in supporting them with disability training and awareness.
