Newberry Close shows the way! (4-10-08)

everyone helping digging lesson

The Gardening Club started the trend by planting bulbs in the Pinfold last week (and around the village signs) and now the people of Newberry Close have shown how easy it is to improve your own environment.
Julie Thorpe sent me these photos and described what they did.

"The residents of Newberry Close had a collection and bought a lot of daffodil bulbs and today we had a working party to plant all the bulbs in the two grass areas on the Close. The children of the close had great fun helping to plant the bulbs and so hopefully next spring Newberry Close will be ablaze with colour for everyone to enjoy."
Wonderful news. Just shows what can be done with some imagination and a bit of "get up and go".
Could lead to another street (or group of like minded people) doing the same thing? Although some streets don't have grass areas available for planting, I suppose they could lay claim to patches of the open spaces on Hoe View Road or behind Cooper Close/ Brownhill Close. It does need someone to start things off though. Are there equivalents of Julie Thorpe on other streets? We will have to wait and see.
