Gardeners celebrate with a 'Do' (14-12-09)

Food Margaret's 1st Cropwell Bishop Gardening Club know how to put on "A Bit of a Do" as this evening demonstrated to the 40 or so Members and guests who braved a cold and wet December evening to attend the Christmas Meeting.

On arrival they were immediately asked to view and make their choice of the best photos in the Animal, Vegetable and Mineral Garden Photography Competition. This was no easy task due to the many, varied and high standards of photographs.

Next, Glyn Greenwood organised everyone - VIP guests included - into teams for the Gardening Quiz. With a mix of cryptic clues and gardening knowledge that had even the most expert gardeners scratching their heads, the eventual winners of the Cropwell Bishop Gardening Club Quiz trophy were "the Corner Girls."

While Margaret Paul and her team counted the votes for the Photography Competition, Judy Thomas showed her photo diary of flowers, fruits and vegetables in the changing seasons of a Cropwell Bishop Garden.

Then the winners of the competition were announced and a prize of a £10 Garden Centre voucher was presented to the winner of each category. They were: Margaret Paul for her ‘Webs Wonderful’ (see right) and Eddie Ward who won two categories with his photgraphs ‘Watergate’ and ‘Colours of Nature’ (see both below).

Eddie's first winner Eddie's second winner Thank you to everyone who entered and made this such a successful competition.

The evening was completed with a magnificent ‘Pot Luck Supper’ provided by members of the club accompanied by a celebration glass of wine.

Happy Christmas to all our members and we look forward to seeing you in our new venue of The Old School on January 18th 2010.

Enjoy some pictures (below) of the evening.
