Cropwell United Clinch League Title (20-3-13)
Cropwell United won the Empal Division One title after back-to-back wins in a week against rivals Crown Inn.
In a game of limited chances, United outplayed the home side 3-0 in the mud at Siemens.
They took a forth minute lead as Nick Gammon drilled home from 14 metres past an unsighted goalkeeper. The second goal came from a corner when the ball was deflected past the goalkeeper by one of his own defenders. Right on half-time, another scramble saw Stef Kendal get the third.
Both sides contest the Empal Cup semi-final this coming Sunday with the winners firm favourites for the Cup. The game will be on Sheldon Field at Cropwell Butler on Sunday morning (24th March).
This is proving a terrific season for Cropwell United. They are now 14 points clear at the top of the league and remain unbeaten this season.
It is the first time the club has won the league and if they manage to beat Crown Inn on Sunday, they will go on to make their first appearance at the Empal Cup Final.
All the players grew up in and around Cropwell.
Here is a list of their remaining fixtures:
24th March Home against Crown Inn (Semi Final of Empal Cup)
7th April Home against Plumtree
14th Away against FC Olympico
28th Away against Elwes Arms

Red-Nose Day at the Cinema (15-3-13)
James Bond may have been the centre of attention at Cropwell Bishop's Cimema this evening (in "Skyfall") but 'Comic Relief' was not forgotten at the 'sell-out' showing.
The the interval, there were free Martinis for all (shaken, not stirred) and a collection box for Comic Relief. The collection raised a very pleasing £130.22.

Red-Nose Day at the School (15-3-13)
We had "The Great Cropwell Bishop Bake-Off" at Primary School today—all in aid of Comic Relief.
All the staff baked a cake and they were judged this morning by Mrs Oldfield and Mrs Williamson (two of our parents).
Then the cakes were cut up for the children to purchase a slice—all proceeds going to Comic Relief.
Winners were:-
1st prize - Vicki Pettifor
2nd prize - Mrs Wilson
3rd prize - Miss Woodward
Highly Commended - Mr Bulmer for his amazing castle.

Cropwell Girls Hit West-End Stage! (14-3-13)
On Sunday 24th February, Sophie's Academy of Performing Arts was invited back to perform at Her Majesty's Theatre in London's West End, the home to long running show Phantom of The Opera.
A group of 18 students, mostly from Cropwell Bishop and Cropwell Butler, travelled down to take part in the Bobby Dazzlers production.
Bobby Dazzlers invite dance schools from up and down the country to take part in this event. Alongside schools from Manchester, Wales, Peterborough, and Norfolk—to name a few, our 'Cropwell' girls represented Nottingham.
The girls confidently performed 3 Freestyle/Disco numbers and took the West End by storm! It was a fantastic experience and event for both students and their proud parents.
A highlight for the girls was using the dressing room of the Ballet chorus of Phantom, surrounded by their pointe shoes and memorabilia.
It was a day all will remember forever and a number of Cropwell girls said it was the best day of their lives!
Sophie's Academy of Performing Arts is based at Cropwell Butler Village Hall and Cotgrave Leisure Centre for children 2½+
