Have you contributed to Children in Need? (12-11-10)

CKOB rafle poster Our Kids (CKOB) are doing all they can to raise a record amount for Children in Need this year. The date of the event is Friday 19th November and they will be taking part in a range of activities at the Old School that evening.

To support them you don't need to have a mix of custard, soup and general mush poured over you (not a nice experience I can tell you!); all you have to do is buy the raffle tickets they are selling.

Many people bought raffle tickets at the Firework Night last week and now they are available to buy at the Post Office.

When you are next in the Post Office paying for your papers, buying a lottery ticket or maybe treating yourself to a bar of chocolate, think of the help you can give to 'children who are in need' by giving just a pound of your money: then buy a raffle ticket.

Can the people of Cropwell Bishop give our Kids the support they need to achieve their target of a thousand pounds?

Send details to me at amjarrow@mac.com.

When you look at the Diary Page, don't forget the 'Regular repeating events' listed at the very bottom. Do you need to update any? Have you got one to add?

A Fireworks Extravaganza! (4-11-10)

Another great Fireworks Night in Cropwell Bishop. It was dry and warm and the childrens ride—a 'little wheel'—was popular and added extra atmosphere to the Park.

Once again, the event was paid for by our Parish Council using money raised from the highly successful 'Picnic in the Park' in the summer.

During the evening, the Memorial Hall Committee worked non-stop serving food and drinks. Some was free and some was for sale. They raised £195.46 from the sales and all of this money will be donated to Dove Cottage Hospice in the Vale of Belvoir.

The traditional lighting of the Beacon before the display itself, was performed by three visitors from Goa: Father Santow, Father Paul and Father Johnson. They are currently in Cropwell Bishop on a visit to our Primary School.

Thanks go to the many volunteers involved with organisng this wonderful event.

Money to Maggies (30-10-10)

Maggies Care Centre

If you were at this morning's Saturday Cafe, you will have seen Elaine selling things from her Bric-a-Brac stall: she raised £100.

This money will go to the campaign to build a Maggie's Centre in Nottingham (proposed building shown above).

Elaine was very pleased with the donations and would like to thank everyone who contributed.

Allotment Views (25-10-10)

I know we are on the lookout for strangers on the Allotment site, but I do not think anyone anticipated this kind of visitor!

You can never be sure what kind of sunset it is going to be, but at 6pm today the view was too good to carry on digging.
