Spring Hill Walk
1. The start is on Fern Road, on the left, just after you have passed the last house. There is a farm gate but you need to go 20 steps further.
Spring Hill Walk
2. Where you have to climb over a stile into a small field.
Spring Hill Walk
3. Keep to the left – an electric fence will likely encourage you.
Spring Hill Walk
4. Glance to the left for a fine view.
Spring Hill Walk
5. And, just a few steps further on, another one.
Spring Hill Walk
6. After walking around the bend to the left, another stile awaits you.
Spring Hill Walk
7. Keep going forward. The hill on your right is Spring Hill, so named because it was once the place where villager collected their fresh water from a natural spring. It has long since dried up.
Spring Hill Walk
8. After you reach the end of the Primary School playing field on your left, the site of the new housing project comes into view. Or it would if you were very tall.
Spring Hill Walk
9. A camera held high can peep over the fence.
Spring Hill Walk
10. Continue down the hill.
Spring Hill Walk
11. At the bottom keep going straight on.
Spring Hill Walk
12. Continue with the hedge on your left.
Spring Hill Walk
13. Go right when the hedge does the same.
Spring Hill Walk
14. Continue with the hedge on your left and you will soon reach a large gap in it.
Spring Hill Walk
15. When you do, turn left and go through it.
Spring Hill Walk
16. Once again walk alongside the hedgerow.
Spring Hill Walk
17. Before long the path will sweep to the left and you should follow it. At this point there is a path that goes to the right: you will explore that one another day.
Spring Hill Walk
18. You may be reassured by the sight of ad yellow waymarker here: you are not lost.
Spring Hill Walk
19. Following a winding path beside trees is far more pleasant than a narrow hedgerow path.
Spring Hill Walk
20. This would be the lowest land in Cropwell Bishop if it wasn't for the fact that we are now in the parish of Cropwell Butler.
Spring Hill Walk
21. The people of Cropwell Butler are a friendly lot so we don't have to worry. You will soon reach the Bishop to Butler road.
Spring Hill Walk
22. There is a walkers gate but it tends to become overgrown because most people duck under the gate instead. Strictly speaking, the right of way is not here. You should really turn right whilst on this side of the gate and go up the hill about 100m where there path sign directs you through to the road. Nevertheless, all concerned seem happy with the currneng arrangement.
Spring Hill Walk
23. Look our for speeding cars and buses then cross the road to the pavement and go left.
Spring Hill Walk
24. Once over the hill, Cropwell Bishop awaits you.
